Dating from the same period is the
terraced altar of Monte d'Accoddi, near Portotorres, it was an important cult centre not only for
Sardinians but also for the peoples of the western area of the Mediterranean. With its truncated
pyramid shape and its inclined ramp, it is the reminiscent of the Middle Eastern ziqqurath.
Following the Megalith trends of Western Europe, are about a hundred dolmen, in the middle
of northern Sardinia, that were used as tombs during the III and II millennium
BC.
